- The Barrio de la Estación wineries are organising a virtual meeting to continue to be close to wine lovers, given the impossibility of holding the event as planned before the pandemic.
- The special programme, which will be broadcast live on the web and social networks, will allow visitors to enjoy a tasting of some of the best wines from the six wineries and interact with the winemakers and the ‘Winemaker of the Year’, Josep Roca.
La Cata del Barrio de la Estación celebrates a virtual edition on 20 June, the date on which the fourth edition of this great wine and gastronomy festival would have been held. With the same desire and enthusiasm to share a day of wine culture and entertainment with wine lovers, the wineries CVNE, Bodegas Muga, Bodegas Bilbaínas Viña Pomal, Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, S.A. and Bodegas RODA will take to the computer screens and mobile devices of all those who want to enjoy the great wines produced in this historic district of Haro.
The online event will be held this Saturday, 20 June, at 12:00 noon with a very special tasting with the participation of oenologists and winemakers from the six organising wineries, hosted by José Ramón Jiménez, The Wine Educator. It will be broadcast simultaneously on the website of La Cata del Barrio de La Estación and on the event’s official channels on Twitter, Facebook and Youtube.
The six wines that will be presented and tasted in this unique edition will be RODA 2016, Viña Pomal Gran Reserva 2012, Imperial Reserva 2016, Flor de Muga Rosado 2019, Viña Ardanza Selección Especial 2010 and Gómez Cruzado Honorable 2016.
It is, therefore, an unprecedented occasion that offers participants the opportunity to move to the historic winemaking district, the cradle of Rioja wine, and be in direct contact with the creators of the wineries, who will answer their questions as if they were actually sharing a glass of wine with them in Haro, as will happen on 19 June 2021. That is the date on which the fourth edition of the best wine event in Spain will be held, for which tickets can already be purchased on the website lacatadelbarriodelaestacion.com.
La Cata del Barrio de la Estación
Every two years, the Barrio de la Estación opens its doors to host this great celebration that brings together the wineries CVNE, Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, S.A., Viña Pomal Bodegas Bilbaínas, Bodegas Muga and Bodegas RODA, in an unforgettable day in which Rioja wine and gastronomy are the true protagonists. An event praised by the national and international press and critics, which was awarded in 2015 with the “Best of” prize for the best wine tourism initiative “Great Wine Capitals”, in 2016 with the prize for the “Best Wine Tourism Experience” at the International Wine Challenge Awards Spain and with the “Rioja Capital Prize for the Singular Initiative” awarded by the Government of La Rioja. More recently, La Cata del Barrio de la Estación has also won the title of “Best Wine Tourism Initiative 2018” from the Wine Routes of Spain and the “Mass Vino” prize awarded by this association of journalists as the best wine tourism experience of the year.
