Attendees will enjoy 14 internationally prestigious wines selected by the seven most emblematic historic wineries on the Spanish wine scene.

The seven tapas created for the occasion by La Rioja’s Michelin-starred chefs -Francis Paniego and the Echapresto Brothers- will boost an outstanding gastronomic section.

Tickets are now on sale for the third edition of La Cata del Barrio de la Estación, the most exclusive and gourmet tasting event to be held next Saturday 16 June in this emblematic venue in Haro (La Rioja), home to the largest concentration of century-old wineries in the world. The price to enjoy this great festive day of wine and gastronomy will be €100, although the organising wineries have arranged a special advance sale price of €80.

The tickets, which can be purchased here, include the tasting of a total of fourteen top-of-the-range and internationally renowned wines (two per winery) specially selected by each winery for this celebration. In addition, the seven participating wineries have opted in this third edition to significantly boost the gastronomic aspect of the event. To this end, they have entrusted the Riojan chefs Francis Paniego, who holds the National Gastronomy Award and three Michelin stars -two of them at El Portal de Echaurren in Ezcaray- and the brothers Carlos and Ignacio Echapresto -also National Gastronomy Award and one Michelin star at Venta Moncalvillo in Daroca de Rioja- with the preparation of seven tapas with which the attendees will complete a succulent journey through some of the most renowned products and dishes of the rich Riojan cuisine.

Considered by wine critics as the best wine event in Spain, this third edition of La Cata del Barrio de la Estación will once again be an unforgettable day for wine lovers and gourmets who will also enjoy live music and an extensive programme of cultural and wine-related activities from 11 am to 6 pm. In addition, the experience is rounded off with a free tour of some of the surprising and unique spaces that house the most emblematic historic wineries on the Spanish wine scene: López de Heredia Viña Tondonia, CVNE, Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, S.A., Viña Pomal Bodegas Bilbaínas, Muga and Bodegas RODA.

The organisers are working on scheduling several buses and shuttle trains to facilitate travel from the nearest provincial capitals, which will be announced accordingly. For those who want to enjoy a full weekend of tourism in Haro, the city of Haro has a wide range of accommodation options, which are also listed on the event’s official website.
