Culture, history and a complete food and wine experience at the sixth edition of the Cata del Barrio de la Estación, on 13 June
On 13 June, La Cata del Barrio de la Estación will hold its sixth edition, once again transforming the historic Barrio de la Estación into the epicentre of the world of wine, premium tourism and world-class culinary experiences. More than 3,500 attendees will fill the streets, gardens and spaces between the wineries in this unique enclave to enjoy an unforgettable day dedicated to Rioja wine, cuisine and culture.
Tickets for this latest edition sold out within minutes of going on sale, cementing La Cata del Barrio de la Estación’s position as one of the most prestigious and eagerly anticipated food and wine events on the national calendar.
Located on the outskirts of Haro, the historic wine capital of Rioja, the Barrio de la Estación is an exceptional cluster of wineries grouped around the old railway station, on the banks of the River Ebro. It was precisely here, in the 19th century, that the great Rioja wine revolution began, thanks to the entrepreneurial vision of its pioneering winemakers, the development of new winemaking techniques and the boom in the wine trade with Bordeaux.
Today, the Barrio de la Estación is regarded as one of the world’s leading wine tourism destinations and boasts the highest concentration of century-old wineries anywhere. It is home to some of the most iconic and prestigious names in Spanish wine: CVNE, Bodegas Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, S.A., Bodegas Bilbaínas – Viña Pomal, Muga and Bodegas RODA. Six historic wineries whose wines have played a decisive role in building Rioja’s international prestige thanks to their elegance, longevity and excellence.
Fine wines, music and cultural events… and the very best of La Rioja’s cuisine
Throughout the day, attendees will be able to sample twelve fine wines—two selections from each winery—as well as take part in exclusive activities created especially for this edition, cultural experiences, live music and culinary offerings designed for the occasion.
As key partners in this sixth edition, La Cata will also bring together some of the chefs who are leading the new culinary revolution in Rioja and neighbouring regions. All of them Michelin-starred, they represent a generation of leading chefs and restaurants who share a contemporary vision of the region, its produce and its traditions. Among them will be Ikaro, Nublo and Ajonegro from La Rioja, El Serbal from Cantabria, and Cobo Estratos and Erre de Roca from Castile and León, who will create exclusive dishes for each participating winery.

In addition to wine tastings, the wineries will open their doors to special activities that will allow visitors to discover some of the great rituals and secrets of Rioja wine: from demonstrations of cooperage and traditional racking by candlelight to photographic exhibitions, immersive tastings and experiences linked to the history and culture of wine. The Barrio de la Estación Wine Tasting has established itself, year after year, as much more than just a food and wine event: it is a collective celebration of wine culture, the historical legacy of Rioja and the ability of its wineries to continue innovating without losing touch with their roots. A cult event that will once again place the Barrio de la Estación in the spotlight of the wine world and high-end tourism.
