Get to know us

The history of Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España begins in this winery located in Haro in the Barrio de la Estación, which dates back to 1879. Over more than 140 years the winery has grown around the Aldea del Vino, a sunny courtyard that acts as the nerve centre of CVNE, surrounded by unique stone buildings with ceramic roofs.

The first wine produced by CVNE was named after its initials. A simple and fortunate misspelling between the U and the V created the iconic Cune brand, which is now the leading wine in the national market. The winery expanded its facilities in 2019, coinciding with its 140th anniversary, to continue to focus on the highest quality in its grand reserves and its white and rosé wines.

The wine is vinified in “El Pilar”, the first non-aggressive winemaking facility in Spain to use gravity to transport the must, which dates back to 1989. This concept, pioneered by CVNE, has now been extended to numerous wineries.

CVNE carries out various wine tourism activities (visits, tastings, traditional meals, introductory courses, etc.) and our open-air Wine Bar (terrace and also indoors), where you can taste any of the wines produced by CVNE, is particularly noteworthy. We adapt to special requests, carrying out exclusive activities for groups (visits to the vineyard, meals in the winery, tailor-made tastings, etc.). We offer different tour options in Spanish, English and German.
